Whenever I visit a really famous city or landmark, I lower my expectations a little bit so that I’m not disappointed by the reality of it. On the train on the way to Burano Island in Venice we were talking about Paris Syndrome, a psychological condition that mostly Japanese tourists experience when visit Paris for the first time and it doesn’t live up to their expectations. When I saw the Grand Canyon in the flesh as a 16-year-old, my first thought was that it wasn't as orange as I expected. That's not even a bad thing, it just didn't look quite how I thought it would.
I went to Venice for the first time in July 2019 and I thought it was beautiful. As soon as you step out of the train station and see it in front of you, it feels pretty spectacular. You can travel by waterbus to different parts of the city, there’s so much to see, so many nice places to sit and have a drink or something to eat. Italian people are so friendly and welcoming. We went to a restaurant and one of the waiters actually greeted us and shook our hands which was really nice of him to do, and kind of funny because that would (probably) never happen back home. Burano Island was full of pretty pastel-coloured houses, it was so cute. I would definitely recommend visiting. The weather was so nice too, it was still warm even though it was late October. I even made friends with some Italian cats 🐱

In conclusion, Italy is stunnin, the food is great, people are nice, and if you want to go when it's not boiling October might be a good time of year to consider.
